2010 COMPASS MEETING
Aloha again!!
Now would be a good time to check out airline prices for tickets to our June 3 - 6 Annual COMPASS Meeting. We have already sent you 10 really good reasons to attend the meeting and 10 great things to do on Maui.
We're now working on the program for the meeting. You recall that the Marathon Credit Card processing program, presented in Quebec, has saved a number of you some considerable dollars. We have already scheduled a principal from Dial Ltd., a company that offers telex, fax and email services to the maritime industry. This could be another favorable savings program.
We are also pursuing a presentation on the newest program in Homeland Security that involves customs agents of the U.S. and Canada. This apparently is the next targeted area of security that will most certainly impact Ship Supply. It's best to stay up on the development of future regulations.
And for our golfing group, the Royal Course of the Kanapaali Golf Club hosted the Wendy's Champions Skins game in late February. Nicklaus/Watson - Couples/Price - Zoeller/Crenshaw and Player/Roberts competed on the course we will be playing for our COMPASS Golf Tournament. This is the course we will enjoy in June.
While you are on Maui, you should explore! There are seven ecosystems on the Island. The best way obviously is to rent a car and go around and up. The Halea Kala Crater is the crown of the National Park. It's active but no eruptions lately. The Road to Hana Drive is Maui's most scenic - 54 miles slink around 600 curves and across 52 bridges as it passes waterfalls, plantations, and state parks - a view of the periphery of Maui's 728 square miles.
Nakalele Point is a creation of volcanic activity - an eerie landscape of lava shapes that some call "Hobbitland".
Do something different - a trail ride at the Thompson Ranch that will take you up for the magnificient views from the top of your horse on the slopes of Haleakea volcano.
Or go where most tourists to the island don't go - to the localest of local settlements - to the village of Kahakuloa - to see Maui as it was before the tourists arrived.
Registration forms along with the golf sign up sheets and accompanying persons tour will be sent out in early April. It would be most helpful for cash flow purposes if you send back your Registration and any activity fee ASAP.
Maui is a once in an association lifetime event, the opportunity to visit face to face - which is very limited for most of you - to see your colleagues, competitors, and clients.
Looking forward to seeing you there - The Hyatt Regency Maui on Kanapaali Beach. You should not miss the magnificant sunsets. Go to our website to see the hotel and some great pictures of Kanapaali Beach.
Mahalo!
